Artistc and Educational Experience
Augusto C. Bordelois (Havana, Cuba, 1969) graduated from the University of Havana with a major in English Language and Literature. He has also studied sculpture, ceramics, costume design for theatre and cinema, classical drawing and painting. He was the founder and main teacher of the "Children’s Workshop," at 23 & 12 Art Center in Havana; and also the co-founder of the freelance multimedia company "2 Pasos."
In addition to his studio paintings, Mr. Bordelois has designed costumes and sets for theaters and floats at different carnivals in Cuba and in Cleveland. He has painted and/or directed several large-scale projects and pieces of public art such as “The Mural of the Americas, a Tribute to Roberto Ocasio” currently installed at CSU School of Music and “Flying Over You”, a multimedia mural, which will be installed at Concourse D at Cleveland Hopkins Airport. He has been a featured artist for the last four years during the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Chalk Festival, where he has been commissioned to do large-scale chalk murals.
He has worked closely with landscape architects, artists and communities in the design of outdoor classrooms, gardens, public places, and public art. He also coordinated several community art programs.
Mr. Bordelois is also a teaching artist and member of Young Audiences of Northeast Ohio Ohio Arts Council. and founding member of Southwest 7 Arts - a fine art and consulting services company, currently managing The Little Red Schoolhouse Center for the Fine Arts, Berea, Ohio
